Isolation

  • 瓜子TV鈥檚 guidelines are in line with those of the , , and the federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

  • If you are COVID positive WITH symptoms:
    • Stay home until you have not had a fever for 24 hours without using fever reducing medication AND your other COVID-19 symptoms are gone or mild and improving.
    • Mask when you are around other people for 10 days after you become sick. You may remove your mask sooner than 10 days if you have two sequential negative tests at least one day apart. Day 0 is your symptom onset date or the day you tested positive, whichever came first.
    • You may return to class or work when you discontinue isolation. You don't need to be cleared by Emmons/COVID Operations.
  • If you are COVID positive WITHOUT symptoms:
    • Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 and have no symptoms are not required to isolate, but are required to wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask whenever around other people for 10 days following the positive test result.
    • You may remove your mask sooner than 10 days if you have two sequential negative tests at least one day apart. Day 0 is your positive test date.
    • Emmons and HR do not provide tests for those trying to test negative in order to remove their masks earlier than Day 10. 

Student Testing & Exposure Information

If you have been exposed or want to test yourself because you have symptoms:

  • Pick up a free at-home COVID test kit from Emmons during open hours, Monday through Friday (9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm).
  • Tests are located in the Emmons lobby on a white cart 
    • Serve yourself - no need to check in at the front desk
    • Scan the QR code located on the COVID test cart and fill out the brief form before you take a test
  • Limit one test per student per day
  • Report your results to Emmons. All at-home test kits include a QR code with instructions to . Students are required to report their results, whether positive or negative, using the form.This form also provides Emmons staff with important information for contact-tracing.

If you are experiencing symptoms and want to be seen by an Emmons provider:

  • Come to Emmons, Monday-Friday 9 am-11:30 am, or 1pm-3:30pm to have a medical provider administer the COVID test.
  • It will take 15 minutes for the result of your COVID test. If the test is negative, you will be scheduled for a walk-in appointment. If the test is positive, you will be given instructions on isolation and can schedule a telemedicine appointment if needed.
  • Walk-in appointments are available on a first-come first-served basis and are not guaranteed. 
  • Emmons is closed for lunch from 12-1pm and the last appointment is at 4pm. 

Employee Testing & Exposure Information

  • Staff and faculty can pick a free at-home COVID test kit from Human Resources if they were exposed to COVID at work.
  • There is no employee testing at Emmons Wellness Center.
  • Employees should notify the COVID Operations team at Emmons immediately if they learn they have tested positive . Employees are required to report their results on the form, which also provides critical information for contact-tracing.

Masking

  • Masks are required in Emmons if you are experiencing respiratory or COVID-like symptoms
  • Faculty may opt to require masks in their classrooms
  • When COVID levels are high in the surrounding community, it is strongly recommended to mask in crowded indoor settings
  • Employees may request masks in bulk for your department by emailing acasillas@oxy.edu. Please specify type and quantity of mask, and provide us with enough advance notice so we can get your masks ready for pick-up.

Vaccination

  • There is no campus COVID vaccine requirement
  • Students, staff, and faculty are highly encouraged to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations
